Is this a 12mm or 17mm drive? It has to be 12mm or less. If you're not sure,
pull the drive out of your 600E and see how they compare. The new one has to
be as thin or thinner.

If it's thin enough, you need the "ThinkPad 600 UltraslimBay HDD Adapter",
which you can find at:

http://shopper.com/prdct/973/472.html

The bare drive will fit OK all by itself in the UltraslimBay HDD Adapter,
but it's a bit loose. For example, if you turn the machine upside down to
pull the HDD Adapter out, the drive may well fall out of it.

You'll get a much more secure fit if you spend $20 with Bill Morrow at
www.thinkpads.com and get the ThinkPad 600 drive mounting tray. It's the
same thing that's attached to the drive you currently have in the 600. Once
the drive is mounted in the tray, it fits snugly in the HDD Adapter.

Bill may have the UltraslimBay HDD Adapter too, so I'd check with him first
on the whole thing.
