Presumably you've checked the W95 resources used by all the devices, to make sure there's
no interference (e.g, that the CD-ROM and the modem aren't trying to use the same IRQ, or even DMA if the modem is a winmodem). You
might have to go into Thinkpad Features and turn off some device
you're not using (e.g., IRDA).
