I haven't had to use the restore CD yet, but would it be possible to read it
on a desktop if you knew what you were looking for?
I think I read here from someone who owned an ISP that the problem with the
IBM "Win" modems (and some Lucent modems) can be solved at the ISP if they
were willing to pay to upgrade their equipment. Since IBM most know this,
I'm surprises they haven't release multiple drivers depending on the ISP's
equipment.

Sorry, I can't seem to go back to the way things were, and I don't have a
modem driver that works like before. You would think the IBM restore CD
would help on this, but it will put my entire computer back into a Win95
environment after I've spent many hours setting up a pristine version of
Win98. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about adding a 56k modem card
and trying to disable the built-in modem.
