This may depend on your brand of LAN/modem card. Some are more evil than
others at screwing your TP. I run Win95 and have a 3Com 3CCFE575BT in my
560X. I installed the drivers only once. If I remove and reinsert it, it
just beeps and logs back onto the network immediately. I've never
installed it while it was in hibernation; I just stick it in while the
TP is running. Two seconds later I'm on the network. If I suspend or
hibernate I just leave the card inside; it logs off and powers down
together with the system. Upon resuming it takes maybe 5 seconds longer
than if there was no network card, but otherwise it's fine. Ditto for
unhibernation.

Try either leaving the card inside while it's in hibernation or
inserting it when the TP is running. Also, when you remove the card, do
you do anything other than click on the icon in the taskbar and select
"Stop xxxx card?" That's all you need to do to power down the card for
ejection. If you do anything else, like deleting the adapter from
Control Panel, you may be removing the drivers as well, forcing Win95 to
ask for the CD-ROM. If all this doesn't fix the problem, extract the
appropriate drivers from the CD-ROM and put them in a convenient
directory. The next time Win95 asks for the disk, redirect it to the
directory with the drivers.
