I love my Plextor PleXWriter 8/20.
It is fast, and the most usefuf software which come with it can create a
bootable CD Image from my thinkpad's harddrive,
so I can rebuild my favorite configuration in minutes.

Subject: OT: Yamaha 4416SX vs Plextor

HI,

I just got a (damaged) Yamaha 4416SXZ a few days ago. I installed all the
software for SCSI, Easy CD Creator. Still I had no luck. I could write
small files. But bigger files give tracking errors. Then I noticed
sometimes when a disc is insterted it gives the amber (no disc) light.
Also, I ran CD Speed 99 and it aborts about at the 45 minute recording
spot.

So, my question is do I return it and give Yamaha another chance or get a
Plextor Drive instead?

Any suggestions?

My setup is Thinkpad 770ED, Win 95 OSR2, and Adaptec 1480A Scsi.

John
