Yup, the serial port is on. Initially, it was set to COM2, but I used
Device Manager to manually set it to COM1, then delete it. Next time Win95
started, it assigned it to COM1. I tried COM2 as well.
I've disabled IrDA using IBM's ThinkPad program (not a good interface
IMHO), but Win95 still detects it, so I have to disable it. There are no
conflicts.
I even started Win95 in Safe mode, and removed the four(!) IDE controllers
and all the extra devices, and let those get detected next startup.
When I use HyperTerm, it can open only the port I have configured. No
other ports can be opened. That port can only be opened once at one time,
and still no data transfer or handshake signals appear on the modem
indicators.
Thanks for the ideas, but... got any more? :)
