I was probably misremembering and reversed 17mm and 19mm.
When the 750 came out, its standard HD size was different from
the HDs used in other laptops.

The taller drives can have a few extra platters (and heads),
meaning you get more capacity for (relatively) little extra
cost. The 12.5mm drives I believe are only using one or two
platters.

That's why there's the discussion going on about maximum HD
capacity between the TP600 and TP770. The 600 takes 12.5mm
drives, the 770 takes 17mm.
