Paul,
I find the internal ZIP100 in my 770 very fast. Rarely use the
floppy drive anymore. However, be sure to get the VST ZIP
which is IBM Proven.
The UltraBay II on the ThinkPad 770 doesn't recognize the new
internal IOMEGA ZIP. The ZIP functionality is OK -- including
the right-click Tools options. It's just that the UltraBay Icon
indicates that a CD-ROM is installed instead of the ZIP - even
though I have the latest BIOS and drivers installed.
The only dysfunctional effect is that it seems to take a long time
to enter and recover from Suspend Mode when the ZIP is installed
-- though it does suspend. While it's entering Suspend it seems
like Windows95 OSR2 freezes, but it eventually suspends and
restores from suspend.
I should have purchased a VST ZIP. but wanted to save a few
bucks. I presumed that IBM hadn't listed the Iomega yet -
thinking that the OEM of a peripheral would certainly be IBM
Proven. Also, the Iomega was about $60 cheaper.
