Hello,

I find that http://www.motherboards.org <http://www.motherboards.org> and
the Intel Developer's web site have a lot of good information
on Intel chipsets.

I think the HX could do more that 64 megs but lacks some of the features of
later
Chipset like SDRAM support. I have a desktop at home using a TX chipset
and stay at 64 Megs. I recently put 128 Megs in my Pentium Pro system at
work and it flies now.

My 365ED can only have 24 Megs and it is maxed out. Still running 95 on it.
I had to put
Disk manager on it when I put in a DYKA-23240 (3.2 Gig) drive as Win95 did
not like the
BIOS translation method (Sometimes I think a 2.0 Gig would have been
better). If I get a new
Machine I may put the 1 Gig back into the 365ED and use the 3.2 either as a
second drive or as a
replacement of a smaller original drive. The 3.2 Gig has UltraDMA-33
support and I feel those features
are wasted in the 365ED (although the newer travelstars spin faster). I run
Win95, OS/2, and Linux on
all of my home machines and laptops.

I tend to get IBM drives as my HD upgrades because they seem to work good.
I recently got
a 14 Gig IBM that spins at 7200 RPM. I noticed a significant performance
increase over a 5400 RPM 8.4 Gig Drive.
Both were using the UDMA-33 controller in the TX chipset with Intel drivers.
I did not notice any increase
going from a 1 Gig to a 3 Gig HD on the laptop but the docs for the 365ED
says it is not a local bus machine.
It seems the 365XD was but I rather go for an older 500, 600 or 700 series.

        Remember the Pentium HX chipset can cache more than 64megs...
