i have not had a kingstom OR an IBM part (other than those shipped with my personal
770) for a long time..
ibm has not made their own memory for as long as i can recall..
many vendors make it for them..
kingston is good (i think toshiba bought kingston)..
apricorn is thinkpad proven, but i have not sold much apricorn lately due to high
prices..
viking is OK too, but the last time i got a 128meg part from them (recently) they
still had parts that would not fit the 770X and Z due to the way ibm changed the
second dimm socket..
goldenram fixed this problem early on when i complained about it..
i even got them a rental 770X from a customer so they had a test machine..
i personally use the goldenram..
in short, get anything but crucial..
i think ibm WILL do a hot swap on memory if you give them a CC #, but so will most..
i do it for my old customers who i know...
