IBM did not share your amusement at that time.. :-)

dumping = selling below cost to capture a market..(sorta like the browser wars)

the new machines also appear to have the system memory in a DIMM socket..i need to
learn if the 64meg part can be changed to a 128meg part, then two 128meg parts
added to the two expansion sockets, theu 128 + 128 + 128 = 384megs.. ?! :-)

yup..simple, but significant..!

i have no idea..remember, this is the "scuttlebutt" not verifiable fact, since i
don't have lines of communication into h/p, dell or ibm..
this came from a supplier to some or all of those companies..

i have no idea, since i use windows for the lan and that is for novell or some such
that i don't have..

i should also mention that some unbranded memory can be quite good, but has little
or no warranty..
and some branded and unbranded memory can be stacked chips, used chips or the like,
and thus substandard..
the big guys all use new chips and test them before shipping.. usually.. when
theres time..!
i remember when some memory shipped, i got it, tested it, and nothing..!!
turned out the eprom had not been programmed..! :-)
it all went back and i got new stuff..
THATS why i like to test stuff before i send it out..
lower chance i will need to be shipping things on my own 'nickel'..
