:-)NOW you know..
in fact, when the 770-1AU came out, the IBM 64meg parts did not work right, only the
Viking worked and no one else had any...

low quality, slow, high drop out rate, i don't know..only was told that these (raw)
chips were not highly respected..

apparently crucial is part of micron who does make their own chips and who brought
action against offshore chip makers for dumping..whis is the reason chip prices are
expected to rise very soon..

when one does this frequently (i usually test run memory i sell when i have that
particular machine here) I notice the variations..770X and Z are quite different from
770-1AU and 770ED..

no, they changed the eprom and moved it slightly..it was only a small thing, but if
you can't snap the DIMM down on both sides, its got to be fixed...

viking is expanding..theres a whole lot less $$ in it these days..
and viking has debt, i think, so they MUST adapt or die..
goldenram is a privately held corp, with no debt and lots of memory on hand..
apricorn is a private corp too, i think..
don't know the debt story there, however..

micron is, i think, still a good company, except for this 'problem' they have..

the enh. video card was standard on the 770 & 770E and optional on the 770X & Z...

doubt the preload is doing that..must be something, some task or app, taking but not
giving back...
