John,
I *think* I tried 65mil colors (?) and it was Ok, but slow, using
the cyber driver. Is memory mappable? Isn't there somesuch
mapping info in the back of the manual? It is over my head so
I have not studied it.
I do think the 8Mb chip is a factor in many of the attempts to go
to 64Mb. Not sure what is going on but it just seems to be at the
center of things.
The guys at Viking memory are on top of this issue. They told me
that they had worked with IBM to get their design right. Even offered
to send me some engineering specs.
If you understand such techincal detail, please do give them a call
and translate for us folks who are not involved with memory at that
level of detail.
I remember the EZ serve guys giving me the dickens over use of 64Mb,
and then suddenly making it work without comment. Go figure.
