these things happen (cold comfort to know THAT at this time)...
the 600E i had (and resold) had a hitachi drive in it.. does yours..??

also, IBM does have warranty support, even in spain..
you should have warranty on that drive..
the big loss, obviously, is the data..

you CAN have the last backup sent to you via e-mail.. there are other ways to
recover data from the dead drive, as well...
