Can we put theory aside for a moment;

I doubt if IBM would spend the money for a 3.6 amp power supply, it the
2.2 amp model could handle it. I think the 3.6 amp supply is probably
sized for the maximum load that might be expected on it.

In the case of the TP 600E this would a CD ROM, floppy drive and couple of
PCMCIA cards -- AND if you are using an operating system that really
multitasks, you could be using all of them at the same time.

With this in mind, what happens to the machine and power supply when the
2.2 amp supply is loaded beyond what it is designed to carry?
