Unfortunately, there is no program to monitor this feature that comes with
these laptops. I have downloaded a rather dated program from IBM which is
ment to monitor this, but it is not the sort of thing which you would have
running all the time. I run it once a week and am reassured by the green
light.

It would be nice if the OS would monitor this, but I don't think it does.

It's almost like the 3D card in my 770. Sure the hardware is there, but I'm
getting very annoyed that IBM hasn't released drivers that allow it to work.

SMART is the same thing, the hardware is there, but no software. It make
GREAT advertising thou, SMART enabled hard drives, 3D Graphics card etc...

If you want that program I have, give me a bell and I'll directly mail it to
you, should be easier than trying to dig it out of IBM's web site.

PS. I have a feeling I once saw a SMART monitor in Mcafee's first aid
program. But that is so bloated I promtly got rid of it.
