The sound problem is with the crappy speakers so get a pair of decent
headphones and they are equal. I have yet to find a notebook with speakers
that were worth using anyway.

Now I'm confused. My 600 has the IBM APC(or something that starts whit an
A) modem like the 770.

Yes I really wish the 600 had the display!

True.

I think that the 600 is the best blend of portability and flexibility that I
have found so far. I take it with me every where and except for a problem
with pealing paint and the connector covers falling off(which IBM took care
of) the 600 has heldup very well. Best of all I can actually use it all day
unlike my friends who have those tiny Sony notebooks with keyboards that are
way small. I also have a desktop that has more power and flexibility then
the 770 and my Sony 200ps monitor makes any lcd dull in comparison. I have
been sitting here reading about how the 770 is a desktop replacement and
don't understand why anyone would replace their desktop with a computer that
is less powerful and flexible. As for space their are quite a few new micro
atx cases that are extremely small and can be matched with an LCD screen(and
if you really want a LCD better then the 770's get the one that goes with
the SGI visual station most cards have digital out options these days). If
you want to occasionally use a computer in an unconventional place just buy
a sub notebook. I think you will still save money over a top of the line
770. So my point is if you need a desktop get a desktop if you need a
notebook get a notebook you can comfortably carry. This idea of a notebook
as a desktop replacement is really backwards.

Oh and I was wondering if IBM is going to give all its new computers the
surface of the 570? My mom just got one(because she doesn't need a cd or
floppy when traveling) and I was really put off by the new coating.
