It does relate to performance since the more resources you have
available, the easier the system will handle the load.

RAM and resources are different since it seems that even though
your RAM isn't used up, your resources are.

Ofcourse... I think after 64MB, you don't really see a increase in
speed.

This would work if you weren't doing critical stuff like stock
trading, rebooting can mean lost of thousands of dollars.
