I don't know anything about New Media, but I have another data point
on Onsale warranty information.

Lately, they have had a number of SyJet 1.5Gig removable drives for
sale. In the warranty information, they list that the drives have a
warranty provided by SyQuest and give a phone number.

Well, since I thought I had heard that SyQuest had gone belly up, had
some of their assets bought by Iomega, and that Iomega had killed
anything from SyQuest with even a whiff of competition for their Jaz
drives, I thought this was odd. So, I called the listed number --
Disconnected.

I sent feedback to Onsale telling them that their warranty information
was wrong, and asking who was providing warranty coverage. They gave
me contact information for the company selling the drives. They have
not returned any of my attempts to contact them.

I guess one might say that it's "always a bit risky" to buy through
Onsale? :-)

Ron.
