Newmedia = ick, gross. Or, at least, that's been my experience. For one,
I think they're out of business... or, at least, I hope they are. But
they *REALLY* pissed me off with (one of ?) their SCSI connector.
Specifically, the PCMCIA SCSI card itself had pins, and the connector had
female connectors... but the female connectors were just jutting out; they
weren't surrounded by plastic or anything. (Here comes the good part.)
Also, there was no indication of which way was right-side-up when you went
to plug in the cable. It was, however, keyed -- using the pins/connectors
themselves. Bottom line? Try to plug it in upside down, and you ran a
*VERY* good chance of breaking the SCSI cable by crumpling the "keyed"
connectors. Easily the worst PCMCIA design I've ever seen. Adaptec
rules. I understand they aren't cheap, but when it comes to SCSI, they
just keep doing it right. As for Newmedia, well, if I ever find the ME
who designed that card, I'm going to have some very, very choice words for
him/her.
Just my $.02 worth.
