I suspect that is just a rumour. Otherwise, IBM is flirting with a
massive class-action lawsuit. I just checked the "IBM Servicepac for
Warranty and Maintenance Options - Supported Products List" at their
website and all of the i-series models (1410, 1411, 1412, 1450, 1451,
1452, 1472, and 1720) are listed as supported products for all of the
following extended service packs:

                2,3,or 4 year depot service
                1,2,3, or 4 year 9x5 onsite service

If you'd like to take a look at the document yourself, it can be
downloaded from:

http://www.as.ibm.com/asus/source/wamomxeu.pdf (note: requires acrobat
reader to view).

Or, you can get it from their fax-back service. Call 1-800-IBM-3395 and
request document #11006.

Best regards,
KH
