Mark -

went through the same hassle. IBM sets this up as a FAT16 2gig + the rest in
a FAT32 extended partition. You need Partition Magic 4 to convert to FAT32
and then resize. Earlier versions couldn't see more than 8 gigs - very
frustrating. One warning: the IBM disk restoration CD won't restore to
FAT32...

The video out is only on the units presold with DVD. Don't know if the
"guts" are in there but unterminated in a connector. My previous TP600 had
the same cover. That's why I ordered my latest machine with DVD, even though
I already had a DVD drive. The video out is composite, and works decently. I
suspect, though, that an SVideo dongle is possible - only one pin is used
for the composite, and the connecter/jack has three signal pins + ground
(haven't checked for signal yet). We've just equipped our students (I'm a
cio at a college in the Seattle area - keeps me in cool toys...) with the
2626-BOUs (390E) - they have a built-in SVideo jack, and use the same
decoder chip as the 600E, so I'm sure SVideo is in there somewhere...
