The Micron Transport XKE models require the user to choose between the
touchpad and the trackpoint. The "other" device is inactive.
On a side note, I have always considered the XKE's to be excellent machines,
though not on the level of a high-end ThinkPad. The 13.3" screen on my 266
Mhz model is unique in that it is extra "black." You never see any bleed
through of the backlight like you do on a Thinkpad. However, the Thinkpad
displays are somewhat brighter.

Well, sort of. I used a Compaq with a touch pad for a while. The two
things about it that really annoyed me were:
1) Had to move my hands off the "home row" to do a "mouse" function.
2) The fleshy part of my thumb tended to rest on the touch pad,
causing the mouse cursor to skitter off somewhere undesired.
A dual pointing device machine that had both pointing stick and touch
pad would certainly solve #1. However, unless the touch pad can
actually be *disabled*, #2 would seem to remain.
Does Micron allow the touch pad to be disabled, leaving the pointing
stick active?
Ron.
