I'd imagine that you'd be fine, I don't know if there are two or possibly three rails though. It might be easier to run a pair of wires from the battery contacts inside the case, unless you want to charge the battery up as well that is. You only need one rail at about 9V.

I need to power up a 755C but do not have the IBM AC adapter. The 755C has the 4 prong D plug. Can I safely put power to this unit with a bench PS? Or will the laptop choke, spit, belch or ?
