Well what's the solution to that all? Quite simple. While installing I relied
on CID-capabilities of IBM ThinkPads and OS/2. That is I unpacked the video
driver to a disk and copied it to the local HDD to (1) repack it in civilized
format (ZIP) instead of DSK and (2) install it from there. Well the first is a
good idea, the latter a bad one. For what reason ever the driver needs the
approriate volume label on the disk to install properly. I reinstalled from
drive A: and everything worked fine now. As far as I can see the video driver
is the only one with that behaviour. All other drivers where installed the
"cid way" that is from the local HDD. I also did that on my other 760XD and
the 385ED of my brother. (Yes, they're all running OS/2 only. And yes, I do my
whole work on OS/2. And no, I'm no big bank, I study physics. Just to answer
some common questions here at once ;)
