The above comments reminds me of a couple of questions I have.
(Thanks!)

First, I was quite impressed with the RealPort when it first came
out. But as far as I can tell, it effectively takes up both PCMCIA
slots, right? Right now I've got a network card in the bottom and
a SCSI card in the top slot. With the Realport, I'd have to be off
the network while using the SCSI device? It's only a CD-R/W drive
so I could live with being off the network, but still it's a
concern if I want any more SCSI devices.

Secondly, I still use the built-in modem. I've got cablemodem at
home, so I only use it on the road in N.A., and while my remote
access isn't cheap, I don't suppose it would pay for a new
modem/network card just for that.
Will my built-in modem work in the U.K. with the appropriate
adapter on the other end? Or is it more complex than that? Xircom
describes "GlobalACCESS features including extensive country
approvals and CountrySelect software, which automatically
configures modem to local dialing conventions" which implies
something more complex than just a plug adapter. Even if not the
RealPort, is there a reason to get a modem/network card that's
somehow more suited to European travel?

I found a site in Utah that sells plug adapters. $7 for a UK
grounded power and $13 for a UK telephone. Targus's European kit
has 9 phone and 3 power adapters, but I bet it's more than $20!

I'm hoping to go to the UK for about 10 days next month and
obviously would want power and phone. I might make a quick
side-trip in Europe and I suspect another phone and another power
would get up close to Targus's cost. But I could probably live on
battery (and if I had no phone adapter, likely wouldn't even use
the computer for those days!). Any bad or good experiences with
Targus's set?

Thanks!
