since my "nits" are being picked clean hereabouts <g> i must clear this point..
without digging a top assembly out of the parts stash, the 701, like all thinkpads
i have seen in the past (naked, that is) have small brass "kept" nuts embedded
within the top cover molding.. the screws screw into brass, not plastic..
what happens is the brass can come loose (under extreme or continual stress) and
thus the screws will appear loose..
or they might just come loose..
and, most thinkpads now use some sort of locktite material on the screws..
