I "Think" that the problem here is that the motherboard and HD passwords
don't match. Try going into the setup, and "set" the HD password to the
same as it was before. Then try a reboot, and see if it will accept the
password. If it will, then you should be able to delete it.
I remember trying to swap a HD from one machine to another, and I seem to
recall that this worked. Anyway, it's worth a try!!!

Subject: Great experiance with EZServe but I'm a bit confused...
Hi there,
First let me explain my original problem first(kinda long so bear with
me) A little while ago, my Thinkpad 760ED started acting up. It would boot,
give me a 163 and 173 error codes, then drop me into BIOS time/date setup.
Upon rebooting it would do the same. So after a few reboots, it suddenly
started asking for my Supervisor passwd. Well I admit to not knowing that,
BUT, it shouldn't have been prompting me for the supervisory passwd at boot.
After some more reboots, the video went totaly haywire and the entire screen
was filled with garbage. At this point I called IBM and setup a pickup. The
technician told me that there was some other problem with the system and
that the board could be replaced along with them while it was there.
So IBM called me, talked to me about the passwd, which I explained that I
didn't know. A day or so later they called with a price estimate on the main
board, which was $530 I think. He told me that he replaced the CMOS battery
but the passwd issue still remained. I had them ship the system back
unrepaired, thinking that I could possibly remember the supervisory passwd.
Today I recieved the laptop back, with a *replaced* mainboard, *and* the
bottom case replaced! It previously had a large crack down the left side!
They didn't charge me because there was a slip confirming the shipment of an
un-repaired system.
Now for the interesting part. I booted the laptop, and it prompted me for
the HDD passwd. I *know* the HDD paswd from before because it was set the
same as the power on. Now I have a fixed mainboard, but no HDD. I'm really
at a loss as to what to do besides buy a new HDD. Any suggestions?
Thanks, and sorry for the long e-mail.
