I didn't get the impression that the drive was now incompatible, but that
the password had been changed by EZ-Serve. The system board doesn't know
(nor care) if there's a password on the HD TTBMK.
I go through this all the time when I work on my wife's 600 which has; 1)
POP, 2) HD PW, 3) NT4 PW and 4) a separate Lotus Notes PW.

You'd get the same response, i.e. the drive would request the PW on bootup,
whether or not there was a BIOS PW. Otherwise, a HD PW could be overcome by
simply putting the drive in another machine.
