I have a seriously troubled TP 760CD, P90, 40MB, 1.2GB HD.

IBM 760CD was up and running. I closed the top and put it away (not
connected to mains). Opened it up and nothing happens (blank screen, hard
drive not engaging, but power still coming into machine). Try to switch
off using power switch - safety device won't allow me to do this. Opened
up the keyboard, took out and reinstalled battery and hard drive. Now the
laptop will switch on and off using the power switch but HD will not
engage.

Though I'm guessing, I think either the battery or motherboard are dead or
the HD has frozen. Options now are to find a fellow with the same (or
similar) laptop and test battery and HD individually. Hopefully I can
recover my data that way.

If anyone can offer suggestions about how to recussitate my laptop or just
get the data from the HD I would be eternally grateful. I have most stuff
backed up but it's the loss that hurts most!

Cheers, Ian Lunt
