Helpful stuff. Thank you. While we're on a roll <g>, how about these
questions.

1) Out of impatience (and in order to make the Win98 startup disk) I
went ahead and installed Win98SE over my Win95 setup. In
Add/Remove Programs, there is now an item for "Delete Win95 Uninstall
Files." I'm happy with Win98 so I assume I want to do that. But it also
seems to me that I could gain lots of disk space by deleting the Win95
directory c:\windows\options which is where all the Win95 cabs are on
my system. Do I need them anymore? (I have copied, per your
suggestion, the Win98 cabs to my hard drive and changed the Registry
to point to the hard drive as the source path; have tested and is working
ok). But I'm now close to the edge on disk space, so need to free up
some space! There are a little over 500mb in my c:\windows directory.
Comments? Suggestions?

2) If I wanted to do a clean install, yet preserve registry settings (so as
to not have to re-install all my apps and restore my data) could I use the
Win98 boot disk to start the system, then delete the c:\windows
directory (except for system.dat and user.dat) and then re-install from the
command line? Or am I totally mucking things up this way!

3) If #2 isn't possible (re saving registry settings), what would you
suggest for a fresh/clean install. Starting with the win98 boot disk, then
what??

Thanks to both Tom and Peter for their quick replies. I'm folks will be
able to weigh in on these questions too. (I'll look forward to giving back
some answers someday :-> )

Don't know. Sorry.
