when the 701 was designed, the 32meg chips were still in the dream stage..
so IBM documentation says max memory is 24megs..
then the 32meg part came available from IBM at about $2k..
since that time the price has gone down and the density of the chips has gone
up..

it is correct that these are a standard SO-DIMM and that any which conform to
the spec SHOULD work..
most do, some MAY not..

i can check and learn, and maybe get a 64meg part to try on one of my 701C
machines.. it would sure be nice if these WOULD work.. :-)
