the "switch" that you move, pushes an internal switch on the planar
board..
(if memory serves)
some other thinkpads, it "cams" against a switch simarly situated..
in any event, best is to be sure you are operating the switch the full
travel..
to repair the internal switch, the planar needs to be removed and the
switch itself replaced..
some soldering and a spare part and Viola! its all done..
and hopefully it will cure the problem.. :-)
