ALSO, run a memory test from ez setup...
you COULD have bad memory..

and another thing to try is the win98SE emergency recovery diskette.. it has some nice generic
CD drivers on it..

or, borrow an ultrabase and a CD drive.. :-)
i know, you tried, but i need to suggest it, just to cover all bases..
