OK, perhaps I misunderstood what you were describing when you stated
that the heads were unloading and then reloading followed by a short
head sweep. I myself have only noticed the regular cache writing
delay. I booted it just earlier today to check. I didn't see the
effect you are describing, but then I didn't play with it very long.

Can you try describing your problem again. What are the symptoms?
What do you mean by the drive randomly resetting? Are you saying that
you can't access the drive after this occurs? What version of Win2000
are you running? What kind of HD are we talking about?

Another poster mentions a possible issue with the 5GB drive. My
770came with an IBM labeled 5.1GB drive, but I've got my installation
of Win2000 RC2 on a seperate 4GB Apricorn drive. I may have just been
lucky in not installing Win2000 on the orignial drive.

I'm wondering what is different about your setup and mine. Given how
often MS was touting improved laptop support with Win2000 I'm surprised
they stumbled on something as basic (and necessary) as the IDE drivers.
Best wishes on finding a solution.

Jeff
