I've installed several flavors of W2K on a 770 like yours. The latest
installation, W2K final release, installed fine on a 6GB drive. I haven't
used it extensively, but I didn't notice the noises you mentioned. I did
nothing above and beyond the standard W2K install other than the BIOS
upgrade.
