Therein lies the rub!
You frequently find that you can pick up one of the lower-end machines with no battery very cheaply, but battery prices are just as expensive as for the high-end machines.
It's turned the economics of owning a low-end machine on its head. For example I have a 755C and the battery went pop. It was cheaper to buy a broken 755CX with a good battery, and fix the CX, than get a new battery for the 755C.
I still use the 755C but only near a mains supply, and the 755CX is now my mobile machine.

Hello Everyone,
I am looking to buy a new or used battery(s) and Ac-Adapter for an IBM Thinkpad Model 755c. Both must be cheap as I only paid very little for the laptop, and do not want to spend a bunch on an adapter for it.
Please let me know how much your asking and how long the battery holds it's charge. Thanks.
