There have been a number of responses (thank you, all!), but most
have centered around the difference between analog vs. digital.

Is it really that much of a difference? I mean...my desktop's
analog monitor looks just great--sharp text, etc. I had thought this might
be more of an issue of dot pitch (I remember cheap, cheesy old 14"
monitors--made by IBM no less--with an *awful* dot pitch of something like
.36--they were *horribly* fuzzy).

Here's my trouble: My intent is to use this as a 2nd monitor with
my desktop, on a Matrox G400 "Dual Head" video card (very little room on
the desktop work area, and much is already monopolized by a 21" monitor, so
a flat-panel monitor seemed a reasonable choice).

The G400 video card supposedly has the ability to be upgraded to
drive digital TFT's, but I don't know what's involved (cost) to have it do
that, nor do I know what TFT panels it will work with
(compatibility--supposedly there isn't really a standardized spec, though
one appears to be developing). For simplicity's sake, I had hoped to just
hook up a TFT with a standard (analog) video connection, rather than trying
to figure all that out.

I also wanted one with Composite and/or S-Video inputs to hook up
to a VCR (my desktop PC gets used for Video editing too--and one of the
reasons this Apple TFT appeared to be a good choice, as it has this
feature). Is such a thing possible with a digital TFT, or would the very
definition of the technology preclude having such an option?

Finally...any suggestions on specific models? I'm still not
convinced I really need to have a digital TFT, but then again...perhaps I
should quit comparing everything to the display on my Thinkpad. ;-)

Thanks in advance (again),

- Randy
