Well....

The last flights I took were from Dulles, VA to LA and back, non-stop, and I
never even bothered to take my laptop out. I've been able to squeeze hours
of usefulness (and enjoyment) out of my new Handspring Visor Deluxe (a
PalmOS derivative). No battery switching, no power cords, no awkward
moments with passengers beside me or in the seat in front, etc. (except to
answer ???s from curious onlookers.)

The Visor is not set up (so far) for writing memos or doing mathematical
analysis, but I easily download web pages using Avantgo, manage emails
through MAPI, plan my activities, track my budget, convert and download many
types of files, databases, and documents off of my laptop to review and
derive actions from, and of course I can and do play card games, board
games, word games, etc.

I don't exactly wear my Visor, but it's soooo "handy" I find it
indispensable. 8Meg RAM, very efficient code, hand-held operation (often
only one hand is required), less than a half pound, batteries that last for
days, fits in my shirt pocket...

Of course, it's not a standalone tool, so I do carry my TP600 with me on
TDYs. It's just so nice not to have to wrestle with the laptop's totebag
during the flight. If you can adapt to the graffiti style of writing input,
it's definitely the right way to go.

Sorry to go so far off topic.
