Hello everyone,

I am new to this list so please pardon me if these topics have been raised
before.

I am looking to purchase a TP 240 (300 MHz) soon and would appreciate some
feedback on the following topics. (If there is a FAQ on 240 related
questions I would appreciate the URL.)

1) Are there any TP 240 owners out there who have moved to Windows 2000? I'd
like to hear about your experiences, especially in regards to performance,
battery life, and compatibility issues (if any). I am interested in using
Windows 2000 so that I can take advantage of its multi-language
capabilities. I would like to be able to run Japanese and Chinese software
on the English version of Win2K.

2) What is the cheapest solution for adding a CD-ROM? I have heard of a
networking method using an Ethernet card in my desktop (Win 95) and the
laptop connected with a cable. Does anyone know of a FAQ or some other
source of information on how to do this? I know very little about
networking.

Are there any TP owners using the portable drive bay? Any opinions?

Alternatively, I could buy a third-party CD-ROM player but I am unsure which
are bootable in case of a system failure. Any suggestions?

3) Is the extra-life battery sold by IBM for the TP 240 the same size as the
original battery?

Thanks,

Eugene
