The drive has a 26-pin mini-centronics just like the connector on the
docking station (mine is the desktop docking station; I also have the
suitcase but haven't used the drive with that yet). So the cable has
the same connector on both ends; but it can only be connected one way
(one end is for the drive and the other is for the docking station).
I've now got a hypothesis that that type of connector is always used the
same way, sort of a standard. My drive was made by Teac, labeled as a
Dell, and according to Peter is compatible with a variety of thinkpads.
I also saw a Toshiba (if memory serves) drive on ebay that had the same
connector.
