A power brick for a 701C gave me the same problems. To repair it, I
carefully worked the tip of a flathead screwdriver into the seam all
around the brick to gradually wedge it open, then resoldered the
broken wire to the terminal on the circuit board. After repair, the
two halves of the case did not fit together quite as tightly as
before, despite my care in wedging them open, so I wrapped them with
electrical tape.
