I do have 1.44 floppy units in UK for UKPounds 35.00 +pp...

Some of the 760XL's had a lot of defective floppy drives... I exchanged
floppy drives with EZServe and never had a nuther problem... but it
sounds as if this may be a hard drive problem... Take your floppy drive
out, and replace it with the CD ROM unit... If the hard drive still
wont boot with the cD ROM unit installed, it is the hard drive... do you
have any utility disks such as Norton?

Some 760's had a 3 year warranty if you bought them from IBM or certain
dealers... Doesn't hurt to call EZ Serve... or IBM... one of them can
tell you if it is under warrantee because you registered it properly...
if you did not register it, you must have the original receipt, then
they will tell you whether it is under warranty or not...

sometimes it only takes $30 to $50 or $75 depending on new or used and
where... to exchange the floppy drive...

Still you could probably fix it yourself if it is a hard drive, except
you probably want all that stinking old data... and you didn't back up,
Right?
