SOME vendors (not me, not apricorn) are offering drives up to 18gig and 25gig
for early machines..
(75x, 76x, et al)..
how this is accomplished, i do not know..
i tried a large drive in a 760CD and ED and all i hot was non boot..
easy setup saw the drive and tested it, but the drive will inhibit any bootup
while it is in the system..
the last time i looked at the pinout of the IDE interface it was unchanged..
there may be a newer IDE with these newer, high capacity HDD's but i have yet
to learn of any difference..
beyond that, one or more of the signals may have been changed, so that the
drive, while in the buss, won't allow any boot..
(miscommunication with the host, obviously)
