Alternatively it might be coax. In which case you need to arrange the wiring so that
a) there is 2 meters of more cable between the nodes.
b) each node consists of a 50ohm T piece
c) into which you plug one end of the cable, a thinkpad, and a 50ohm terminator.

You need either a hub, or a crossover cable. You can't just hook two 10BaseT cables together - that won't work.
