The URL says U$39.00 but I paid C$40 (~U$25) at the local IBM store
when I first got the connector (so maybe the site is quoting me
C$).

If you can't find one there, or from IBM, I can get it from the
store here in Ottawa for C$38 plus taxes [2 in stock]. I'll be
happy to do that and FedEx it, but you wouldn't get it until Monday
and the cross-border shipping would probably be fairly high (a
FedEx envelope alone is U$20 from California to Ottawa).
