I felt it wise to pass on this little tidbit about these infernal and dangerous little contraptions. These little devices allow you to use a 2.5" (notebook drive) in a desktop in a 3.5" drive bay. It's a great idea. Unfortunately, most of devices normally do not ship with instructions or for that matter silkscreening on the board. If you ever find yourself needing to use one of these pieces of work; (I'd like to use I different word here but there are people of a sensitive nature who will read this) for goodness sake make sure that you plug in your 2.5" drive the right way otherwise this cute little $15 adapter will turn your 2.5 inch hard drive into a nice paperweight. You see if you plug in the drive the wrong way into the adapter you will connect the computer power to pin 1 of your little hard drive and blow the drive controller on your drive. Nice little lesson don't you think? Does anyone have a used Toshiba MK0803MAT for sale (cheap)? I have included a small bitmap decoding what is the correct way to plug in the drive for the adapter that I have. However, this picture should only be used as a possible guide to help you decide how best to proceed in using your adapter and is by no means the definitive answer on how to properly plug in device into this adapter. In other words, Caveat Emptor. Good Luck (your gonna need it if you have to use one of these adapters).
