travelstar are IBM..
travelstar report to IBM's drive fitness test..
travelstar have a less than 512k buffer..
toshiba don't report to IBM's drive fitness test..
toshiba tend (so far) to be quieter than travelstar..
toshiba have a 1meg buffer..
take your pick.. :-)

both will work equally well..
if you intend on retaining the old HDD for use in the 600, you'll want another
HDD bracket..

ohh, geometry in this case refers to the way the drive actually IS as opposed to
how it presents itself to the outside world and the particular OS..
you MIGHT be better advised to put Linux on the first partition..
i've not worked with linux enough to experience "Large Drive Blues".. :-)
