If these machines were on eBay, I'd expect that. But these machines are on
Egghead. I've bought several IBM refurbs from Egghead/Onsale now, and my
experience has been consistent: If the auction listing says "Billed by
Egghead" and "warranty is provided by IBM", then it's a unit refurbished by
IBM and sent out in an IBM sealed package, with the software preload that
IBM specifies for that type/model number.
Egghead also sells machines refurbished by third parties (often
Intellisale), but those will say "Billed by Intellisale" and "warranty is
provided by Intellisale." Then the machine might have a different software
preload, whatever Intellisale or the other third party put on it.
