A counter example: I installed Slackware 3.5 on a 701C docked in a
Dock II via its SCSI CD-ROM with no trouble. Need more information
regarding "...I get a boot failed".

I have a 701CS (AMD 5x86-133 w/ 40MB). I have it in a Dock II with
SCSI CD and floppy disk. I get a boot failed with I try run the
install with RH 6.0. Any ideas?
